by far my favourite times of the day every day are the minute Ava wakes from her lunchtime nap and when she wakes up first thing in the morning. being decidedly not a cuddly baby {so far, that is. i hold out hope she will learn to love cuddles!}, she is a very independent little soul. once she is up and raring to go she has no time to stop and cuddle, she just has SO MUCH TO DO, you see. so when she is still drowsy from sleep i swoop in, lift her on to me and she rests her head on my chest as we sit on the chair in her nursery. we stay there for ten minutes or so {until she wakes up fully and starts to get antsy; no doubt thinking of all the things she needs to check off her to do list}. i stroke her hair and kiss the top of her head and occasionally she looks up at me and smiles her increasingly toothy grin and i smile back like we're sharing a joke. i relish these short blissful interludes every day and try to savour them as i know the days where she is small enough to lie on me in this way and when i have time to just sit are likely to be limited.
but for now, they win hands down as the two best moments of my day, every day.
what are your favourite moments?
*incidentally, i was hoping to capture one such moment on camera, but that little minx is just too alert and has foiled several of my mum's attempts to sneak upstairs with the camera and take a quick snap. so you'll have to make do with these post-cuddle shots instead.
she is so beautiful.
ReplyDeletemy boy is all about the cuddles.. gives long hugs, kisses on cheeks and lips and eyes and so on.. and i love that he is always so warm..
thank you Hena. i am very jealous of your cuddly boy! now that Ava is getting really mobile she does circle back round and climb onto my lap now so i'm taking that as an almost cuddle :)
Deletethat first picture is darling!

thanks Camden! i have my mum to thank for that one, she's turning out to be a rather good photographer!
DeleteI've just come across your blog and I think it is just lovely. It so nice to find fellow uk bloggers as the majority I read are from over seas. And strangely enough my blog is called, this little house, after a side project of mine of decorated house-shaped shelving. I too have a baby boy who in april will be one. he is such an independent soul and not one for cuddling apart from when he throws himself at me, but hey that's good enough for me! i look forward to seeing your future posts.

thanks Claire! same for me, the majority i read are from overseas and that's kind of why i started mine.
